Remembrance Parade
The Club wishes to thank Paul Johnson and members of the Under 16's Squad, for their attendance this morning at Whiston Parish church for the Remembrance Day service. The service was followed by the wreath-laying ceremony, where a wreath was laid on behalf of The Club.
I am sure that all parents and players recognise the importance of Remembrance Day, particularly at these times, with the UK having some 9000 troops in Afghanistan. The organisers of the parade wanted to involve local youth groups to reinforce the messages to our young people. There were around 60 people in the parade and many comments were passed by the old soldiers about the presence of youth in the parade.
Many thanks to Paul and the players for representing our club.
RACE NIGHT
Would Squad Managers/Secretaries please inform Nicola Jones on 0779 568 1069 of their final numbers for Race Night, unless you have already done so. We need to know if there are any unsold tickets and how many pie and peas to order, so hurry up.
Social Committee
There will be a Social Committee meeting on Tuesday 10th November at The Hind at 8pm. Please come and assist the team with the quiz.
They really do discuss forthcoming events, honestly!!!
GUILTHWAITE
On Saturday 24th October, representatives from Whiston FC, together with people from the U18's, U16 and U15 squads, went to the Guilthwaite ground and concreted in some posts which will be used to secure the new goal posts to. There was also a general tidy up of the site. The new goal posts are now up and the venue is now better than before we were invaded. (By the gypsies that is, not the Romans.)
Big thanks to everyone who braved the rain to assist in the work, especially to Nick Heath and also to Scott Black who transported the goalposts to Guilthwaite. We love you all very much.xxx

This was always going to be a tough game in a 2nd v 3rd encounter which obviously was made harder by following the men after this mornings downpours, its fair to say Guilthwaite was a little muddy, our advice to the boys was to use the wings as much as possible and still try to play good passing football. Miracles do happen and the boys actually listened ,we were playing some great football and had two or three chances in the first fifteen minutes,I had just said to Craig this is looking good when on Mosboroughs first real attack they played a great ball into the middle of the area and we didnt pick up the runner 1-0 down.
Whiston don`t give up the fight these days and we continued to play good football,we should also comment that Mosborough were also playing good attractive football and it was a very even game.Mark then had a good break and beat the Mosborough keeper one on one to pull us back level.then with about 10 minutes left to half time another great move involving about 5 players ended in a neat finish from Tom.Both sides were contributing to an entertaining game and we reached half time 2-1 up
Half time
Whiston Wildcats 2-1 Mosborough
We knew the conditions were going to get worse in the second half and it became harder to play the passing game but both sides stuck to their guns and for about 20 minutes it was end to end stuff, with both keepers making important saves and both sets of strikers missing some opportunities. It was Mosborough who managed to find the net next to make it 2-2 but Whiston fought back and with about 12 minutes left a great solo run from abbas ended in a screamer into the top corner giving the mosborough keeper no chance.both sides looked tired now but we defended the last 5 minutes well and overall deserved the victory
Final score
Whiston 3-2 Mosborough

Overall a great display and both sets of players and parents contributed to a great game of football, its good to see a competitive game like this played in the right spirit and both teams trying to play football.I am sure both Mosborough and ourselves will be in the mix at the end of the season.so once again great game lads

We started off half asleep this may have been with a few players running slow and not been fully ready for the game not able to prep the boys fully. I say this week in week out we have got to talk and work for each other don’t sit back and admire what we have just done. I told the boys that the pitch was poor and we had to play the ball hard and watch for the bobbles as it could go anywhere. Millhouse’s took the lead with a good finish from there centre forward then another we had no part in this game for at least twenty minutes. Then on went Tom and Nathan, Nathan in midfield and Tom out wide they could see what was going on from the side line. I told them to get hold of the game and sort it out. Tom did what I asked and scored the first of our three goals what a strike it was into the far top corner. Adam took a knock and yet again we had to change things around. Whilst I was sorting Adam out I missed our second goal which Lewis put away back on a level playing field were finished the stronger side whilst Luke G came close twice just lacking that final finish even Danny cross rolled across the cross bar not to fall our feet.
2-2 half time
Told the boys to carry on as we were talk play and press on shot on sight test this keeper. Straight from the off Luke G kept his cool and drove it once again across the keeper to score our third. At last we had the upper hand now. Luke C and Ben B kept us in front Luke cleared a goal bound shot clear with his head and put it well out of danger. There no 12 was quick and Sharpe and gambled on everything which gave them another goal. That was three for him and I think he got the forth too even though I gave a player a job to man mark him. We really pushed Millhouses into their half and they were trying to play for time. Ben R Luke Eric Joe Tom and Lewis all came really close post, crossbar just wide....What have we got to do to turn these games into wins.....Even my players shouted to say the ball had gone over the line at one point, It was just not our day....
Parents MOM very close today Danny or Lewis so I had to decide and the only reason he nicked it was due to work rate...Lewis
Managers MOM played fantastic for a little lad he won headers got stuck in played out of his skin and kept us in the game time and time again well deserved Luke C

Dodworth had started well in their first season in Division A and were mid table before the start of this game. Whiston had performed well against SUJB 2 weeks ago and we wondering if the lads were going to show the same determination and belief in their ability in today's game. As it happens they were about pull off their best performance so far this season.
Whiston got stuck in staight from the kick off. They fought for every ball in midfield whilst keeping a strong back line. They began to settle on the ball and were stringing together some great passes. Their efforts were rewarded when Bradley Cadman struck home a shot near the back post from an excellent cross from Tom Fisher. The boys continued to battle throughout the remainder of the first half and were not intimidated by Dodworth's 2 giants in central midfield.
Half time WW 1 DMW 0
Whiston new they were going have to dig in and they didn't disappoint. Within 10 minutes of the second half Whiston were 2 up from a long Regan Musgrave throw, flicked on by Tom Hague and slotted in to the back of the net by Bradley Cadman. Dodworth stepped up a notch and the 2 giants were starting to command more control of midfield. Mid way
through the second half Dodworth scored. Whiston knew they had to dig in even more and had a couple of chances towards the end of the game but were unable to convert them. With only 2 minutes of the match remaining Dodworth pinched an equalizer.

With the weather being so bad we did not get the chance to give MOM trophies. On this performance all the lads deserve a trophy. Well done all of you!!

The weather was not very helpful today. The game started with us gifting the home side a goal in the first five minutes, they then unfortunately went on to knock in a second. At this point we did not look like getting back into the game and I must admit it was very one sided for most of the match. We did have a few chances on goal but we were not sharp enough and were getting beaten to the ball in midfield. Kieran Russell managed to get past the keeper twice and knock the ball into the net. We should have capitalized more with our attacking runs but we let ourselves down with not being able to finish. The home team was the best team by far as the score line suggests
Not a good day to be playing or watching football.
